PressureBaker – The MagicPot®

Normal Pressure cookers Vs MagicPot: What is the difference?

1. Normal pressure cookers are not designed to cook on high heat, without water. The MagicPot® is designed to be used on high heat, without water.

2. Normal pressure cookers are not designed for frying. OPOS Stainless steel MagicPots are designed to accommodate Cold Pressure Frying.

3. Normal cookers are not standardised for OPOS recipes. Hit or miss is most likely. MagicPots are standardised for OPOS recipes. All recipes will work exactly the same way for you, as they work for us.

4. You can start your journey with normal pressure cookers as long as you avoid trying out advanced techniques with them. Stay away from pressure baking, controlled caramelisation, Ghee making, sugar syrup or cold pressure frying.

5. You will receive extensive handholding and help in troubleshooting if you use a
MagicPot®.

So, what’s so special about the MagicPot®?

1. The 2L & 3L magicpots are undoubtedly the best tool on earth for vegetables, all kinds of vegetables.

2. They are designed for all sorts of no-water cooking. From biriyanis to pastas. Vegetables to meats & seafood.

3. They are designed to cook multiple dishes at the same time. Cooking up an elaborate thali from starters to desserts becomes a child’s play.

They are not designed to cook with a lot of water. Any regular pressure cooker can do that. Please do not try to cook large volumes of rice, pasta & dal in your 2L magicpot. You can cook 1.5C rice & dal without spewing in a 2L magic pot, but remember it was not designed for that. Irrespective of what devices you own – an Instant pot, other pressure cookers, rice cooker, crock pot etc, you still need 2L& 3L magicpots, just for the pleasure of bringing the best out of vegetables. You will get one sooner or later!

A few pointers:

1. The whistle and nozzle is the weakest point in your magic pot. Never place the lid with the nozzle / weight touching the floor.

2. It is extremely sturdy and can easily survive multiple falls. We test them with 20 foot drops. The only damage is to the handle.

3. If used well, the gasket lasts atleast for 2 years. The whistle lasts for 3 or more years.

4. It is dishwasher safe.

5. It is designed to last a lifetime. You only need to change the gasket, whistle or the handle once a few years.

6. It comes with an extra set of handles, gasket, two extra safety valves, extra weight and tools to change them yourself. Ideally, you should have no problems with it atleast for 4 years.

We had Apple as a benchmark while designing the MagicPot. Right from its looks to sturdiness, ease of use and performance, we wanted it to be the very best there is. We have spared no expense doing that. It will only get better. All the OPOS recipes have been restandardised for the MagicPot. All live videos are being shot with a MagicPot®.

Understand your equipment:

Now, if you add too little or too much vegetables 2L MagicPot®, you end up overcooking or undercooking them. The difference won’t be noticeable to most people though!

If you want to cook more vegetables, do not use a larger sized vessel. Instead, use two or more pots.

Use your larger sized pots for biriyani, kichidi, kheer, rice, dal, potato, halwas, thokku etc, which call for prolonged cooking.

Most of you work with wrong / broken equipment. Our ‘jugaad’ mentality forces us to somehow make it function. In this case, it does not work. There is no reason to serve poor food to your family just because you don’t have the right equipment.

If your pressure cooker is over 5 years old, do not use it for OPOS, irrespective of how well it cooks. They are ticking time bombs. They lack the sophisticated safety measures the new cookers have.
